Hi Guys,
I just finished building my new system (specs below), I am currently running prime95 on my Windows 7 fresh install and was wondering what I should consider safe in terms of temps. Currently I have over clocked my i7 920 @3.4GHZ I had it running at 4Ghz with mostly auto settings for volts etc... but then I thought 1.4v for CPU (which the board auto set) was a bit high. I have now set up as follows from bit-tech website:
* vCore: 1.3V
* DIMM: 1.66V
* PLL: 1.92V
* IOH: 1.20V
* ICH: Auto
* Base Clock: 190MHz
* CPU Multiplier: 18x
* Memory Clock: 1,600MHz
My system spec is:
Intel i7 920 (overclocked to 3.4GHZ)
Corsair CWCH50-1 Cooling Hydro Series H50
Asus P6TD Deluxe
OCZ 12GB(6x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz Gold XTC Triple Channel Kit CL8(8-8-8-24) 1.65V
OCZ Vertex 2 SSD
ASUS HD 5870 1GB GDDR5
Antec TruePower Quattro 850W
Antec 1200 Twelve Hundred Full Tower Case
Currently running for 30 mins MAX temps on all cores are 78c it normally idles around 44c (My computer room is very hot (4 computers running all the time) (most are simple hp ml115 servers running quietly).
So I would say the room ambient temp is around 25/30~ (this is a guess I should really get a correct reading).
So back to my questio is 78c safe? what is the highest I should push it, this machine would be on 24/7.
I got it running at 4GHZ but never primed it. I am happy with a 3.4 overclock as long as those temps are safe.
If anyone is curious, I have the Corsair setup with two fans pushing out the hot air (exhaust) instead of the pulling in. My reasoning for this was the room is very hot anyway wouldnt make sense. My case sucks cold air from the front via 3 huge fans and then I have a Massive fan at the top for exhaust and another at the back.
thanks
Snake
