HD strange problem

I have been given a HD that has gone bad.

The HD when pluged in stops a PC from turning on !
has any one ever come accross this before ?

I did put in in a removable rack but the PCB on the rack blew ! lol

have tried it 2 PC's and it was originaly in a USB ( that works with another drive )

I've not come across this, but it sounds like the control logic pcb on the hard drive is faulty, if the data on there is really worth getting off you'll have to buy an identical model hard drive and swap the circuit boards over.

that said, when you've gotten to this far in trying to recover the data, it might just be time to turn it over to a professional data recovery company

Its 1am and ive come to the same conclusion as there is a short on the 12volt line
PCB shows no scortch marks so im a little lost i will try and sorce one with the same firmware
