SATA adaptors IDE drives to get Data from old drives.
I'm currently using an IDE HDD as my main drive. It's plugged into the IDE header, I've just found the "Serillel 2" SATA <--> IDE adaptor I got with the mobo (Abot IC7G). Think there was only one.
Can I run one disk off SATA header and another off an IDE header?
Only I want to check for some data on an even older IDE drive.
My optical drive is also on the IDE. Is there anything to be gained from putting an IDE<--> SATA adaptor on there and uisng SATA header?
Anyone recommend a IDE <-->SATA adaptor?
I saw one in PC World today but it didn't look very good quality (was an open PCB, looked like there would be mechanical stress on it).
I know I need an upgraded PC. I'm planning upgrading the HDD to a 1TB or > in a couple of months once I get a new job and use my existing HDD on SATA for MP3 storage and archive.

Should work fine. Some older board you had to set both IDE and Sata to be enabled together which sounds as you already have.
No benefit from putting your optical on the SATA converter other then a slimmer cable. Also those adapters usually need power from a floppy style power connect which can be a pain to find on newer boards.
