    low power m\b cpu for whs

    As above i need to upgrade the m\b and cpu for my home server as i need more sata ports and decided time to upgrade rather than buying a sata pci card, so looking for aa low power board with 6+ sata ports and also cpu
    any ideas?

    update son has an abit AN8 ultra with aan Opteron 146 that he says i can have, so do i go for this or a new build

    How about an atom based motherboard? I think there was a zotac board with 6 ports on it a while back.

    These are 2 Atom boards with 6 sata ports that I know of:

    ZOTAC NM10-DTX
    Super Micro X7SPA-H

    If you are not in a rush, I believe Intel are bringing out, (or have already), a board specifically designe for low power operation servers.
    Otherwise, the Zotac mentioned above works just fine for WHS, (just so long as you don't intend doing transcoding etc on the server).
