Clicky case fase

Over the last few evenings my case fan expelling hot air out of the top of my case has developed a clicking noise. It starts after the system has been on for ca. 30mins.

Its repetitive but not too fast. The fan is a Antec DBB 2000rpm thing running off the mobo header is running at between 800-1000rpm. Its quite quiet apart from this darned clicking sound. I do not think it is runnning faster when it starts clicking as I still can't hear it when I'm sitting.

Anyone have ideas on how to fix it? I could swap it with another if you think having it point horizontally would help.

Sounds like a failing fan. How old is it?

I've got Antec DBB fans on my main PC, which start clicking every now and again. I usually punch the top of the case, which tends to fix it, but also crashes the PC.

I would say a new fan's in order.

I got it second hand. 'Apparently' it was a few weeks old. I have been using it for a couple of months but not intensively.

Jim; I have a second one which is working fine but blowing air horizontally is your buzzing fan pointing verticaly? Just wondering if that made a difference. Was tempted to punch mine last night too. My case door was buzzing a little bit too menaing I have two things to sort out.

Unless there is a quick fix I'll swap the fans round and see if it fixes anything.

My case came bundled with Antec TriCool fans and one of them failed fairly quickly, it was making a rattling noise too. Pushing the blades in alleviated it for a few hours but not permanently. Having it horizontal fixed it but I noticed the fan was strugging to get up to speed.

I'm fairly sure it's not the vertical one - I've only got one and it's at the top of the case so I think I'd notice it. I suspect it's one of the front horizontal intake fans.

Maybe it's an issue with Antec fans?
My Sonata Plus came with one Tricool 120mm in the back, but it was making the side panel buzz - I replaced the screws with rubber mounts from Nexus - still buzzed. Replaced the fan with a 1000RPM Nexus, and the buzzing stopped. So now the fan is lying in the drawer - tried to leave it in front to have some airflow coming from the front (fixed it on the HDD suspension mounts), but the temps were OK anyway, so took it out.
In short: I don't like Antec fans

I think they run so fast at high setting there is not alot you can do to quieten them except run them slower. These run at 2000rpm and sound lovely when you hold them! Stickthem in acase and its another story!

That's exactly my point - mine was running at low, which is something around 1200RPM, i.e. not much more than the Nexus fan, yet Nexus causes no vibrations whatsoever. They're (Nexus fans) not expensive, I can recommend them lightly
