Re: Computer Starts Up Then Shutdown
We would need more information as to what happens?
Does anything spin up?
Do you get any lights?
At what point during turning on does it go off again?
Do you get any unsual beeps?
Re: Computer Starts Up Then Shutdown
Does anything spin up? everything spins (Video Card,CPU Fan,Power Supply)
Do you get any lights? no only when u turn it on the computer case light is on then computer shuts down
At what point during turning on does it go off again? its like really quick starts then shutdown right away
Do you get any unsual beeps? none only thing i remember is when the computer acctually starts up then it beeps
Re: Computer Starts Up Then Shutdown
The way it turns on really quickly and shuts down again suggests either a short or RAM error usually. Try taking the CMOS battery out and see if resetting the BIOS helps.
Re: Computer Starts Up Then Shutdown
i took out the battery while the computer is completely shut off then put it back in or do you mean take out the battery then start up the computer (wouldnt that messed up the computer even more)?
Re: Computer Starts Up Then Shutdown
Could possibly be a short, I had the same problem once and spent ages working out one of the fans had died and was shorting out the whole rig. Unplug anything unessential to boot from the PC. So unplug all fans, HDDs, optical drives etc etc and see if it boots then.
If so start plugging things in one at a time to see if you can isolate the short, if not then it could be cpu/mobo/ram and youll need to start testing those.

Re: Computer Starts Up Then Shutdown
If you take everything out apart from the CPU (and i'd leave the fan on this!) then you should get a string of beeps indicating memory not present. then put things in one at a time

Yup, take it out while it is completely shut off and leave the pc shut off. After around 10 mins or so put the battery back in and try to turn the pc on. Taking out the CMOS battery should reset the BIOS settings.
