    Another PC Upgrade

Okay so back in december I upgraded to a new GPU and case and now i'm looking at upgrading my mobo, hard drive, going to Win 7 and getting a new HSF so I can overclock. Back in February I wrote up a rough idea of what I was thinking about. Here it is:

Xclio 3060 PLUS Black Silver Midi Tower Case
    Already Have

600W OCZ SXS PSU Whisper Quiet
    Already Have

    Asus P5Q SE PLUS, iP45, S 775, PCI-E 2.0 (x16), DDR2 1066/1200/667/800, SATA II, ATX
    £69.71

    Q6600 Quad Core
    Already Have

    Sapphire Radeon HD 5850
    Already Have

    Akasa AK-960E Intel LGA 775, Dual/Quad 3.8Ghz+ 3 HeatPipe, Aluminum Fin Heatsink, PWM Fan & EBR £11.71

    4GB DDR2 800MHz
    Already Have

    1TB Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3, SATA 3Gb/s, 7200rpm, 32MB Cache, 8.9 ms, NCQ, OEM
    £63.88

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    £91.73

Akasa AK-455 Hi Performance Silver based thermal compound, 1.5gr Syringe
    £1.96

    Total: £238.99
(Prices correct in Feb 2010 all on Scan.co.uk)

I was also thinking that (im sure i read this somwhere, correct me ifim wrong) since LGA775 sockets are slowly going out of use I could upgrade to an i5 or i7 sytem (or equal AMD system) now and save having to do it further down the line. I will be getting the money for this build in May & I believe I will have around £300-£400 for it. I am also looking to buy a cheapish but still good sound card.

I am upgrading mainly because I am running out of space on my current Hard drive, but also because I want to overclock my CPU. As I said I am also considering a new CPU so please let me know what you think, and make suggestions to improve my build or help me save some cash.

    Thanks,
    Steve

No-ones replied because there is not alot wrong with what you have planned. Few queries:-

Bigger HSF if it fits in your case with fitting for your next rig so you don't need to change it?

Whats wrong with your current mobo?

OC your current CPU and wait until next year. The current fair may reduce in price and you will have more platforms to choose from. Until your system is beginning to slouch there should not imho be any real reason to upgrade.

    Re: Another PC Upgrade

I would be considering some sort of cooling of the VRMs if you intend to do a large overclock on your Q6600. Also spending more on your CPU cooler would be a good idea as the Q6600 can run quite hot if overclocked a lot.
