    Nf7-s v2.0 checksum error

    updated my Bios yesterday using the tool inside of windows (stupid?) can't remember the name. and now it won't boot I get an error message that reads CMOS Checksum error-defaults loaded it also says press del to enter setup or f1 to continue but neither button works, have tried to clear the cmos but to no avail, have taken out the battery, no go. The verion of Bios I was trying to install was dated 04/22/2004 and the code at bottom of the screen reads 6A61BA1BC-24.
    Anyone got any Ideas ??

    Heh, i used that on my NF7-S board. Worked a treat, no problems. When i get those errors all i have to do is reset the CMOS. Did you remove the power cable when you done it?

    Is the CPU at the correct speed? when you flash it will lose all your old settings so you may need to put the CPU back to settings to had it at before

    Yeap blocker is correct - once the BIOS is flashed it is also reset so you will have to apply your overclocking speeds again ( everyone clocks using this board )

    Which bios revision was it that you flashed with, as I can try to have a quick word with the extremely friendly technical folks at Abit to see what else can cause this.

    Best Regards

    Right - there maybe a solution to this afterall.

    Download the bios again and put the bios onto a floppy and use the built in flash when the system boots by pressing F2 or F4 ( its one of these... I've not booted my PC for a while due to a water issue ) Once in here you can flash safely in the confines of no operating system and this should theoretically fix the issue you have.

    Hope this information helps

    If the above dont work, take out the graphics card and retry.
    The reference BIOS's on the NF2 used to have a feature where if no g.card was found, and there was a floppy in the drive, with a BIOS on it, it would flash with that BIOS on disk.
    I dont know if it was left in, but you have nothing to loose

    silly question but do you have a PS2 keyboard if you're using a USB one and a USB one if you're using a PS2 one, i know it's unlikely it'll help but everythings worth a try when your bored is on its way out.

    Heh, i didn't really understand that.

    You mean that the NF7-S's don't like a USB and a PS/2 input device (keyboard or mouse) ?

    Basicly, if the BIOS is not working correctly, and he's using a USB keyboard, it probably wont work.

    My CMOS clearing trick:

    Set jumper to clear - turn off power at the wall, press power button on compy a few times - drains it all out. Sorted.

    Also try removing all devices from the mobo, leaving CPU, mem and graphics, then using a PS2 keyboard get it sorted (I hope.)
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();
