    Question SATA Question

I'm looking at buying another sata hard drive. My question is, it this possible on a n7-S v2.0? I'm allready running a WD raptor on one of the channels. This is a bit of a n00b question, but I'm new to sata. I know that the nf7-s can use sata for raid, but can it be used just to create 2 seperate channels for different sized independent drives?

I don't have the nf7-s v2.0 but it comes with the standard SATA raid controller as in most other nForce 2 motherboard and yeah there's no problems running 2 seperate drives of difference capacities on the 2 channels....

and that's if I'm not wrong but I'm runnign one SATA Drive on one channel, and a converted IDE to SATA drive on the other as a seperate drive without problems(on an Asus A7N8X Deluxe board)

    1. Plug the new drive into the spare channel.
    2. Use it.

You have to set up RAID, so if you don't set it up, it won't be used - the drives will work just as they are.
