Whats the best overclocking core 2 duo?

I've had 3.8ghz stable and 4hgz not so stable out of my e7200 when i had my geforce 7300gs installed, but since i upgraded to a hd4770 i only manage 3.33ghz.

Strange? anyone have any ideas?

Thats what i thought at first so i upgraded from a Antec 380W EarthWatts to a Corsair TX650W, didnt make a difference.

Yes you can, think i tried it yesterday but I'm not sure cos i tried several different clocks.

I'll try it now to be sure, back in a minute.

This has been bugging me for ages ever since i upgraded my graphics card. I even sent back a gtx275 which i picked up dirt cheap! unlike the 4770 it would boot but wouldn't run 3d marks properly and returned abysmal scores.

Sticking to 3.8ghz for the moment and running p95 as i type! that reminds me got to upgrade my profile!

it is hit an miss on that tip working, sometimes auto shags the lot up and will push it to far, 110 seems to be a magical number on I7 overclocking the 920 over 4ghz

pushing it to far can kill the board, so dont be tempted to go over 20% on the pcie, personally i wouldnt try booting over 110.

To be honest i was aiming for 100 so i could maybe buy a new cpu and or graphics card from in the classifieds but i think I'll stick with what I've got for now! see above posts.

Oh and i think I'll be hanging around for a while because of the helpful people like GoNz0 i think i can learn a lot hear.
