Does anyone out there measure the power consumption of their rig with a plug in power meter?
Mine runs 118w idle and about 220w full load running prime95 and furmark.

Does anyone out there measure the power consumption of their rig with a plug in power meter?
Mine runs 118w idle and about 220w full load running prime95 and furmark.
My rigs below:
Workstation 1: Idle 195W Max 303W
Workstation 2: Idle 102W Max 191W
HTPC: Idle 49W Max 97W (Before adding RAID) / Idle 161W Max 209W (After adding array)
Minitx system - about 40W excluding monitor.
i5 740 @ 3.6GHz
P55
Ati 4770
4GB DDR3 (1600MHz, I think)
Idle is ~120w, full load when encoding video is never more than 220w, playing a game hardly ever gets above 200w.
Via 1.2Ghz processor (fanless heatsink - although there is a temp controlled 40mm case fan - it runs at between 42 and 45 degrees C)) on a Jetway mobo, with two 2.5" WD Scorpio blacks in RAID 1, running Fedora 11. Used as a webserver, fileserver and mailserver. If you want more detail, let me know.
I have recently built one using a VIA 1.8 GHz processor - takes a little more power, and slightly noisier, but gives a little more grunt, although the 1GHz is fine - oh yes it also folds in the background.
my rig hovers around 460w idle, the monitor takes about 60w though, load pushed up to 700w.
thats what the ups is reporting with all the various other bits and bobs plugged in such as keyboard psu, 5.1 speakers, phone and the central heating (the rooms fed off a 3000w UPS in the loft)
you may be thinking WTF is he doing with the central heating on the UPS, well im the only one on the street with a combi boiler having a shower in a power cut :D
that another plan in the pipework, i got 2 spare UPS sat in the garage so i should be able to keep the setup going for a few years yet. i just need to find a unit that will switch to the genny on power out and feed the UPS!
without costing thousands as i struck it lucky with swapping out old for new UPS in sainsburys petrol stations :)
Not much - the gas control valve, possibly a bit of electronics, and if you have a pumped system, the water pump. Of those, the water pump would be the greatest - possibly 100W? The rest, I would estimate less than 25.
But the power consumption of the boiler and the central heating pump should all be visible on the rating plates.
But a modest UPS would be enough for Gonzo to rinse the soap off! :)
Edit - cross posted!
140w, it went from 430w to 570w turning the hot water on :)
My PC Q6700 2 HDD and 4870 toxic, monitor and speakers are at around 195w tickover.. and right up to 300w gaming.
