Big loss of performance in 3DMark06

Hello,

I've recently been having some performance issues so I did a 3DMark06 run on my system. I got ~17800 points. However, only days ago, I was getting about 20300 Marks. This is using the same clock speeds etc on all components.

Does the 2500 drop suggest a fault with the VGA? The CPU score has remained pretty much constant, but the graphical scores are the ones that have dropped (considerably).

I've heard of systems getting slightly lower scores after a long period of time, but have never seen this big a drop, nor this sudden.

Nope, no software or hardware changes.

In fact, I think the last run where I got 20300 marks was only yesterday.

Try defraging the hard drive

also check temps on card and make sure fans working

Occams razor....Did you do both runs at the same settings ?

I feel like an idiot now.

I opened CCC and reset all the settings to default, and the scores are back to normal
