    Old computer, no video output

I've just been given an old computer, but it's got a big hard drive and is incredibly quiet - you can't hear it at all. I've not figured out what I want to do with it yet, but it seems a shame just to leave it doing nothing.

It worked perfectly fine, then was replaced with a new computer and spent a few months up the loft before being given to me. For some reason though I'm getting absolutely no video output from it. I've tried 2 monitors and various cables. I've reset the BIOS but sill no output. There are no beeps from the motherboard or anything.

Any ideas for what I can try next? And if I get it working, what I should use it for haha.

First I'd check the mobo for any odd shaped capacitors, also, spare graphics card any where?

Re: Old computer, no video output

Checked it all over and nothing looks out of order. I actually just tried it on the monitor it was originally being used on (which is being used by the new computer) and it doesn't work. I can only conclude something happened whilst it was up the loft.

It's using onboard graphics and I don't have a spare card I can try. I'm not sure if it's even worth spending any more time on it, I've already spent half the day trying to troubleshoot the problem haha.

Re: Old computer, no video output

What kind of slots for a possible video card does it have on the mobo?

Re: Old computer, no video output

    Posting system specs would help.

If it's not beeping, then I would assume either the PSU or Mobo is dead. You should try a different PSU as they are not expensive and as its an old PC, it might be hard to find a Mobo for it.
