Acer Revo
Hello all,
I have been looking for replacements laptops for my mother as hers is definitely on the way out, the problem is she uses it ALL the time so it is constantly on, to the point where she has used the laptop fully charged, but with the charger plugged in, that now, when the thing is unplugged, it turns off instantly.
So I have been looking at laptops for around the £400 mark, but then suddenly it hit me the other day.
An Acer Revo!
It would be perfect for her needs, would mean she doesnt have to worry about cooling and would look rather good too.
Now the issue is, she uses the laptop in a limited space so it would be ideal for her to get a monitor that the revo could be mounted to the back of.
Thing is, I cant find a suitable monitor.
So I have two questions really: -
1) Where can I find a suitable monitor.
2) Has anyone on her used or are they using an Acer Revo?
Cheers in advance,
-
Re: Acer Revo
Yep I have one, its the R3610 dual core + atom. Its mainly used for playing media files that are stored on my main PC, output is to a hd tv, the supplied bracket attached to the vesa holes. The included keyboard is suprisingly good, the mouse is cheap.
it works with any monitor and most hd tvs
its quiet
has no opticla drive, but thats easy to sort iwht a usb adapter

Re: Acer Revo
Does the system come with an adapter to mount it on the back of monitors, or does that require specific monitors?

Re: Acer Revo
It comes with the mount. Its designed to work with vesa compatible monitors and TVs, but the monitor needs to leave the vesa holes free when used with its supplied stand.
As an exmaple, the monitors her at work have this kind of stand

this wouldnt work with the revos holder (vesa holes are used by the monitors stand)
My monitor at home is like this

the vesa holes are not used by the stand, so revo holder will work.

Re: Acer Revo
Ahh so basically, it just uses the holes you would for wall mounting, so if I found a monitor with wall mount holes, it should be fine..cool.
I dont see your second picture :s
Would you happen to have a link to the holder? Google is not my friend.

them onitor needs to have vesa compatible, but the stand the monitor uses musrt leave the vesa holes free when in use.

Re: Acer Revo
Acer have a habit of installing crud on their rigs, so its probably worth doing a fresh instal when you get it. Keep meaning to shove a fresh win7 on my one.

Re: Acer Revo
Yeah I have a netbook and the amount of crap that just isnt needed is annoying.
I jsut have to work out how much it will cost for the monitor + revo + whatever else i might need.

Re: Acer Revo
Works well with an lcd tv if thats an option, I wouldnt try and run a really high res monitor from one of these. As an example the single core versions did struggle with iplayer content.

Re: Acer Revo
It will just be a normal monitor, nothing fance as she doesnt watch anything on it really..although built in speakers would be needed.
Incase you are interested, this is the one I was looking at : - http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/134615...C/Product.html
