    8800mAh or 10400mAh?

Guys which battery would be better on life? the 8800mAh or the 10400mAh? of course if there is not going to be much difference i will get the 8800mAh as im pretty sure the 10400mAh would last longer but its just how much longer? the laptop is used for gaming and watching videos. there is also times that it is used for just normal use and when it only last for half an hour it becomes anoying! lol, so could anyone advise? thanks

    Re: 8800mAh or 10400mAh?

The capacity of a battery has to be measured against a discharge rate - if that isn't quoted, then the 10 hour rate is usually assumed.

So an 8800 mA/h battery will supply 880mA for ten hours, a 10400mA/h battery will supply 1040 mA for ten hours. However that rate is not linear, and depends partly on battery chemistry. While in theory the 880mA/h battery should only supply 88mA for 100hurs, in practice it would probably last longer. And while it should supply 8800mA for an hour, in practice it would be a lot less. The actual time could be stimated by measuring the actual current drawn by the device abnd referring to the graphs that the mfr may produce - if they are available.

However, as a rule of thumb, the 10400 battery has about 20% more capacity than the smaller one, so you might expect it to last about 20% longer. Only a rough estimate though.

so in reality i would be wasting my money on the 10400? this whole battery thing is confusing, the one im running is a 4400, at first it would last for about 1.5 hours now its 30 mins, so going by this could i exspect the 8800 to give me at least 2.5 hours charge?

Yeah you should get over 2.5h from the 8800. How long did the other battery last? Fully charged and hot are the worst conditions to store a Li-ion battery and it's not really easy to avoid that in a laptop but if you know you will be using the laptop on mains power for the day then it might be a good idea to remove the battery if it's easy enough to do rather than leaving it to cook in the computer.

yes see i thought i might do, the other battery used to last 1.5hours (2.5 hours on low power use) its now down to half an hour max im going to buy the battery now, just need it so bad lol thanks for your inputs any others are welcomed

can i just add to this, that the 8800mAh has 12 cells and is 10.8volts dont know if this can effect it in any way?

Not important really as long as it fits and is correct voltage.

    Re: 8800mAh or 10400mAh?

Some laptops have a bios utility that conditions the battery - a constant discharge and then a recharge. Not sure how effective it is, but if yoiur laptop bios has that facility, there isn't anything to lose by trying it.

Cycling doesn't help Li-ion batteries, in fact it can do more harm than good but it does help calibrate the battery meter so it can tell you more accurately how full the battery is.
