yes but modern day macs are standard pc's with a 200% price hike to install linux on them and pretend they run CS4 better than windows can.
You do know AMD have 8 / 12 Core CPUs starting US$266 / US$800 each plus the motherboard and (presumably) lots of ram.
Xeon starts much higher although clock speed is also higher.

the opteron 6164HE does look mightly tasty. would make a very fast workstation 24 cores in 200w
12 cores @ 1.7GHz, on a 45nm process, within a 65W TDP?!?!?!
