Re: Outlook and mobile email
outlook anywhere is pretty good but I don't get what you mean by "They have to view the same messages when they return to the office"
Re: Outlook and mobile email
Don't get marked as read I would assume.
Re: Outlook and mobile email
What version of exchange are you running?
Re: Outlook and mobile email
Yes, that's right, they observe that the messages are a separate copy in Outlook on their desk pc, and the OWA view is not synchronised.

Exchange 2007
Re: Outlook and mobile email
Are your desk PC's caching the messages by chance, could have something to do with it? (just a guess, I'm no means an expert here)
Re: Outlook and mobile email
This must be a setup mistake... not using POP3 are you?
Re: Outlook and mobile email
hmm OWA hooks directly into the mailbox though, we use it at work (albeit 2003) and all mail read via OWA is marked as read..
Only thing I could think is that the "time until marked as read" is too high?
Without a smartphone OWA is the best thing IMO.

That is a very good point, they typically use Office 2003 - and therefore Caching.
Dirky, OWA goes stright to the mailbox, right?, then there can be no doubt that they are opening the mail straight from source.
Where is the time until marked as read?
Cheers
Rob
Re: Outlook and mobile email
There is a "time until read" in outlook but also in OWA, login (w/ IE) click options at the bottom on the left, then there is "Reading pane options" - "Wait X seconds before marking item as read "
You can prolly set that as a policy w/ OWAdmin but not sure
