Re: Please help on mobo bundle

If price is the foremost concern tell him to get a Celeron E3300, a Gigabyte iG31 Motherboard, and 2GB of cheap DDR2 memory.

Total cost ~ £110. Job Done.

That said, the components you've picked out meet the requirements you've been given. Not sure what kind of advice you're asking for really...?

Re: Please help on mobo bundle

Why does it have to be DDR3? It's more expensive for no noticable performance gain for his usage pattern. If he's gonna be that daft about it tell him to sort it out himself

Otherwise your only sensible choice is the parts you've already selected.

Re: Please help on mobo bundle

If the OP wants to reduce the cost of the build they could consider one of the following motherboards instead:

    Asrock N68C-S ~ £34

    http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Pr...AM3-AM2----AM2

    http://www.asrock.com/MB/overview.asp?Model=N68C-S

Has the 7025 IGP and runs the HT at version 1 speeds. Can use DDR2 or DDR3.

    MSI GF615M-P33 ~ £39

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/177224

    http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=pr...1&prod_no=1815

Has the 6150SE IGP and runs the HT at version 1 speeds. Uses DDR3.

    Biostar MCP6P3 ~ £37

    http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/prod...B-MCP6P3&af=50

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Biostar-MCP6P3...b48e04ffd1ff43

    http://www.biostar-usa.com/app/en-us...t.php?S_ID=461

Has the 6150 IGP and runs the HT at version 1 speeds. Uses DDR3.

There are also some other alternatives to the Asus motherboard with the 785G chipset:

    Biostar TA785G3

    http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...346&tid=frooct

    http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/prod...-TA785G3&af=50

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Biostar-TA785G...b48e04ffd1ff43

    http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/t-s...t.php?S_ID=436

    Asrock motherboard M3A785GMH/128M

    http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Pr...ocket-AM3-DDR3

    http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.as...M3A785GMH/128M

I would probably try to get the Asrock M3A785GMH/128M motherboard as it has 128MB of dedicated DDR3 for the IGP.

Here are some reviews of the motherboard:
