Hi everyone,
I have an ML115 G5 which I use as my media store for DVD's and MP3's. All fine and dandy... Until I decided I wanted to output to my TV as well. And this is where the trouble starts!
Firstly, the heatsink fouls on the CPU heatsink which is flexing the cardSo the layout on the HP board is, well, rubbish.
Secondly, the board seems to have problems with Memory utilisation as it can't handle 8GB RAM, 512MB on the card and, 256MB from the RAID Controller?? If I take it back down to 1GB single stick it works fine but that's not really ideal. (Blue screens and various other faults keep appearing)
SO... to the crunch of the thread! I'm looking at swapping out the board to something else and I need some help tracking down an alternative option.
Criteria:
Must be micro ATX with standard 24pin Power and 4pin ATX power connects (I don't plan on swapping the PSU and that's what it has.
Must have 4DIMM slots (DDR2), and also be AM2+ (compatible with an Opteron 1352 CPU)
Ideally it should have PCI-E x16 slot for the graphics card AND a PCI-E x4/8/16 slot for the RAID controller I plan to run (HP P212 with 256MB Cache)
If the above point is not possible ONBOARD graphics with HDMI out would be acceptable leaving a x16 slot for the RAID controller.
So not a tall order at all but I'm hoping someone has been where I am and knows exactly the motherboard I need?
Thanks in Advance!
Moose

Cost me more but now I don't have to fight with the computer to make it work with the cards (RAID card, Gfx, TV) and the memory and everything seems to be working a treat. TV, Video, Music, backups and interweb all on my TV
