Recommend a printer capable of printing direct to CDs

The old Epson R200 I've been using for the last few years is starting to give up the ghost.

Any recommendation of printer which can print direct to CD (not one using labels).

I've had a few problems with the R200 - usual ghastly inefficient use of ink, clogging, etc, so something more reliable would be great. I don't tend to print that often, but don't want to waste 80% of the cartridges' capacity constantly cleaning.

I can't give you a model number recommendation, but Canons have always been notoriously good at this. My quite old i865 offers excellent prints on disks

Thanks Agent. Will look at them.

Re: Recommend a printer capable of printing direct to CDs

    Hi

I have the Canon Pixma ip4700 - excellent prints on Cd

Colour Ink is £20 for three cartridges (Cyan, Mgenta, Yellow) and about £10 for the black which is larger
So about £30 for a set. They are quite small though. The older Pixma iP4500 had larger cartridges for the same money but I couldn't seem to find a known reliable source for one as they are now discontinued.

I use the older canon ip4000 - prints on CDs, and also has duplex printing (on paper!)

Re: Recommend a printer capable of printing direct to CDs

My old Canon MP800 packed up after a few years, that did excellent CD printing.

Ended up with the MP640, I like being able to do duplex printing and colour copies as well as CD printing. Network printing is a nice upgrade from the old printer too. Lots of cheap third party inks out there, not tried any yet though.

Of all places, I found Amazon the best price & selection.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-PIXMA-...dp/B002LVUKLU/

Only cost me £139, seems to have risen a tad over the last 2 months.

Re: Recommend a printer capable of printing direct to CDs

I've a Canon IP4600 at home and this supports CD/DVD printing.

I cannot comment on the quality as it was given to me without any inks and I've not needed to use it as yet so it's in the box under my PC desk along with the synology DS107+ which needs sorting out when I get the replacement SATA/Power cables from synology.
