You might want to move your drain tube, as it start position isn't the lowest part of the loop. As you currently have it on an inverted Y junction it will be a hassle when it comes to draining.

    Re: Corsair 800D, Watercooled log

Those are damn good temps tbh, managing to cut 40C off the gpu is huge! Especially given the temp difference for these past few days, cpu i thought would be that because of the heat from the gpu but its still less than the highly regarded nocta so damn impressive!. Now i cant wait to buy a cheap secondhand 5850/70 and WC it .

    Re: Corsair 800D, Watercooled log

Oh and GoNz, you were right, as usual, it did end up running the card in x8 , so it's back in the top slot again

I can run a proper idle/stress test on the GPU if anyone wants (obviously can't do it for air now though )

    Re: Corsair 800D, Watercooled log

Good work on the temps, can't wait to see what I can do with my Q6600 (I've managed to get it to 70/71/69/69 doing some video encoding this weekend with the rubbishy stock air cooler - ended up pointing a 140mm tri-cool at it just in case ).

Here's a generic WC question (I've got a more specific one about pumps coming up but want to take some piccies to explain what I'm think before I start that thread ) - why do barb users get stung so heavily for angled connectors? I'd've thought a barb would be inherently easier & cheaper to produce than a compression fitting, but I've just been pricing up connectors and if I went with 3/8" barbs and wanted to use 45 degree connectors anywhere I'd be looking at £10 each whereas 45 degree compression fittings are just a few quid...? I might end up with compression fittings just to save money on the angled ones!

    Re: Corsair 800D, Watercooled log

I dont know why they are more expensive, i also would have expected them to be cheaper!. i assume your not going for 1/2" ID tubing, if so why not? Is it lack of room for the cables? Using 1/2" ID and 3/4 OD tubing means that its much more resistant to kinking and would probably mean you dont need those angled connectors.

    Re: Corsair 800D, Watercooled log

The 45 degree connectors are mostly a lack of space issue. There's no particular reason to go with 3/8" tubing apart from already having a couple of 3/8" barbs for the CPU block! But I am going to be squeezing everything into a relatively small (tiny, compared to an 800D) case, and the 45 degree connectors should make it a lot easier to plumb in straightish lines.

And yes, I am completely mad
