Re: Question about hot swap
you could always buy a quiet drive and be done with :)
Re: Question about hot swap
There is a little more to hotswapping than just the cage! The mobo controller needs to support it.
Re: Question about hot swap
and the interface i.e. SATA (IDE isn't swapable) + HDD itself needs needs to support hot swap...
Re: Question about hot swap
Ok I think you answered my question inadvertently. It was a really dumb question I see now lol. How I should have phrased it was "can you use a HDD and mobo that doesn't support hotswap in a case that which a cage which does?". Judging my what you all seemed to have said the answer is yes.
Thanks!
Re: Question about hot swap
Your correct, you are fine using non hot swap drives etc in a drive cage that says hot swap. However, the thing that makes the cage "hot swappable" is it will have connectors on a board at the back of the enclosure. You just shove the drive in and it connects, no messing around with wires. The 2.5inch drive should have the connectors in the right place to just slot into the cases drive bay, but it might be worth checking that the silencer isn't going to foul anything in the case.
