Thinking about watercooling...
Re: Thinking about watercooling...
you will need a res top so you can put the fittings on that as well :)
Re: Thinking about watercooling...
Aha. But a pump top is purely for show?
Re: Thinking about watercooling...
nope, they also allow a faster flow m8, some are for show more that performance :)
Re: Thinking about watercooling...
On second thoughts would this be a good idea? After all, I already own an h50...

This guy managed mod his to fit a 240mm radiator and the pump is easily strong enough aparently. Would save me some space too :D
EDIT: Except about a week later his block/pump died. Crap plan then :D

How about kill two birds with one stone and get a 10w laing pump (will only be for a CPU and a dual 120mm rad so I think that is powerful enough?) + an xspc reservoir top?
Re: Thinking about watercooling...
sounds like a plan, and if you want to turn it into a 18w its a very simple job to bridge a solder joint and turn it into the 18w version as they are infact the same beast :)
Re: Thinking about watercooling...
Will it be short of flow at 10W? I reckon it should be ample for what I have planned but nice to know I could do that in the future :)
Re: Thinking about watercooling...
It will have plenty of flow, I believe the black ice 240mm rad is the best out of the three you linked to however the XSPC one is good anyway. If you find it is short of flow when you upgrade to a 36mm rad or have new cpu's etc then yeh just volt mod it to the 18w version and your off!.
Re: Thinking about watercooling...
Cheers for the advice on the rad. I would have got the xspc because it's the brand I have heard of most but yeah, they are all almost identical in size. Which black ice?
Re: Thinking about watercooling...
depends on your budget, the two black ice versions in the £30-£40 range are ok, the difference between the lite and normal gts version is that the lite is thinner i believe which affects performance so id say if room isnt an issue get the normal version. Whats your budget? And is size a factor because you could have a 360mm rad instead
Re: Thinking about watercooling...
360 is too big. This isn't for any time soon, maybe at the end of summer or so. I'm definitely not looking to go for any single rad over 240mm, at the most a 240mm + a single 120mm.
Re: Thinking about watercooling...
Ah ok, thats fair enough. So whats the budget? Cause theres obviously the thermochill p series which are regarded as top ones along with XSPC top end ones.
However these are like £50/£60.
Re: Thinking about watercooling...
Nah, I was looking at doing it for £180 all in. Thats for waterblock, tubing, connections, rad, res, pump, coil....
Re: Thinking about watercooling...
Pump- £60
Waterblock- £30
Tubing- £5
barbs etc- £5
Rad- £55
Res-£20
Total: £175 :D, although its only a recommendation :), the rads your looking at do a decent job anyway.
