    Is the 5830 worth getting

Well when it first came out it was ridiculously overpriced but now it is what the expected price is around 150-160 £ so is it worth it or is a hd5770 a better decision

Re: Is the 5830 worth getting

I'd say it's worth it. The 5770 has gone up in price if anything, noticed most of them are now £130-£140. Then again, it's only another £40 or so to the cheaper 5850

Re: Is the 5830 worth getting

I think if you can find a 5850 for under 200 as I did, (only occasionally available) then that is tremendous value. Likewise a 5770 is attractive at around 110-115 but 130 it starts to be harder to justify.

5830s were terrible value on release, I still dont think they are cheap enough. Performance is a big step down from the 5850. But it depends what sort of deal you can get in comparison to the other two.

Re: Is the 5830 worth getting

I've seen an XFX 5830 for around £160 on scan, it seem to be a good deal as the only 5850 in stock was for £240.

furthermore as far as I know they have a huge headroom for OCing.

I'm waiting until nvidia releases something on the 5770/5830 level and see how the prices change.

wait, you can even pay a little bit more for a 5870. and after considering the 5870 you can pay a little bit more for a factory OC-ed 5870....and ohhh then again you can buy a 5970 for a little bit more

For that price I would say the 5830 was the better buy.
