Future watercooling loop.... pros cons and any changes?
Right, planning on building a case to house a large system and a new high end WC system, almost finished the planning of it and have the materials for the case but im just trying to make sure iam building it for the right components. These WC items will be purchased in july i believe.
Pump: Swiftech mcp 655- Laing D5 - Should i get a pump top? What is the advantage to them :P
Reservoir- XSPC 5.25in Bay Dual Reservoir Dont need anything fancy so this is good yes?
Fittings: 1/2 ID compression fittings, recommendations would be nice but at the minute ill pick up the cheapest when I come to buy the stuff.
Tubing: Reusing my 1/2ID tubing however will buy more off ebay or something if needed.
Radiator: This is the most important part at the minute for me, I was thinking the Thermochill PA120.3 would be a good rad to use and so far ive got a case designed around this, however the case im building has sufficient room for the PA120.4 version (4 fans) and that rad only costs £10 more so im wondering what one would be better to get?
Coolant: De-ionized water and some PT nuke.
CPU Block: At the minute i have a Polarflow block on my chip, is doing good enough so i may stick with this however i am open to suggestions albeit I want to keep it to a cost of <£40 as i plan to upgrade to a new cpu next year (hoping for bulldozer :P). Is the XSPC Delta ok?
GPU Block: Well Again im planning on getting one of the new AMD cards this year or early next year so buying a block now is a bit silly... for my 4850 :P. However i may bag a 5850/70 if they come cheap secondhand soon :), so maybe suggestions for a 5850/70 block if you know one off the top of your head.
Now have I missed anything?
Helps appreciated :).

compression fittings, cheap is good as they tend to do the same thing, bitspowers all about the bling, nothing more !
1/2" flow is about as big as it gets so you will be find with a good pump.
I love thermochill and support UK manufacturing ok ;)
you dont really need a dual bay res as its space being taken, you could use a fill port on a T piece, res top for the pump if theres height or a single bay job as you dont lose much cooland to warrant a big res.
pump tops help with better flow and the ability to use more fittings on them.
Re: Future watercooling loop.... pros cons and any changes?
yeh i thought thermochill rads are the better ones now just need to decide whether to get the trio or quad version :P.
Well i know performance isnt really affected much by a res but currently my pump makes a lot of noise but its the res thats the problem :P, the water is trickling on something making a noise and well i need to replace this one as my niece buggered the screw so cant refill it!. The space i have for this case is more than the 800D just for reference, theres plenty of height as its 72CM tall and the pump is going at the bottom (this is a good idea right?).
Any specific res tops you would recommend? I had a quick look, only seem to find ones for the DDC not D5, would this be suitable? http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/...at=1630&page=1
Re: Future watercooling loop.... pros cons and any changes?
DDC and ek res top ?
100 or 140mm versions, no need to use vario pump as it involves a screwdriver each time you want to change the speed. better off with a controller you can use outside the case to make use of the DDC's 7-12v range :)
Re: Future watercooling loop.... pros cons and any changes?
Ah so you mean dump the d5 and get a ddc? I thought the d5 was ment to be quieter and a better performing pump?. For the controllers, i assume theres some cheap ones available as it would only be a variable resistor right?.
Also, you mean something like this? http://specialtech.co.uk/spshop/cust...productid=5226 Looks like a good idea :P.
Re: Future watercooling loop.... pros cons and any changes?
i have not personally compared the 2 to know m8 :) but yes that sort of pump tops fine.
Re: Future watercooling loop.... pros cons and any changes?
Well thanks for the suggestions Gonz0 :), I will try and decide over the ddc and d5 for awhile now :D. Atleast it doesnt affect my plans for this case.
Any sites/forums that have good information in regards to radiator performance?

Both the thermochill 120.3 & 120.4 rads are very good.
If you are going to put your CPU & GPU in the one loop then the 120.4 would be better as the loop temperature will be lower.
As for pumps.
If you go with the D5 then fit

this gives better performance & the ability to fit G1/4 fittings.
You will also require a res.

My personal preference is the ddc 18w pump with a xspc res top fitted.

Re: Future watercooling loop.... pros cons and any changes?
holly cow :P. I think i will go with the DDC and top then, after a bit i will add in another DDC as that looks sweet :P
So the p120.4 seems like the better rad to buy then :D. Now to get some cash and wait xD.
Re: Future watercooling loop.... pros cons and any changes?
The pictures shown are from my last build.
The rad in the top is a thermochill 120.4 and I am very happy with it.
Re: Future watercooling loop.... pros cons and any changes?
That case powdercoated piggin?
Re: Future watercooling loop.... pros cons and any changes?
Yes, powder coated textured black.
