Can anyone give me an insight into how loud these are in particular the XSPC res top. I was under the impression they go quiet when they're fully bled ?
I'm considering an upgrade from a D5 but an hesistant about the extra noise.

D5 is a more powerful pump when compared to the DDC version so it would be more of a downgrade if you replaced it.
DDC are ment to be louder than D5's but only if the D5 vario version is set to something like 3/4 out of 5 speeds,.
But i read the DDC 3.2 have higher flowrates and headpressure with the use of aftermarket tops with the XSPC restop being the best. This is why so many people are switching to DDC.
Its also apparantly better for higher restriction flows which would be suited more for me as my setup includes 2 mosfets 3 rads a NB SB block a GPU and CPU block.
With a custom ddc top on it then yes of course it will be improved, however you can get tops for the D5 which again improve performance so it will still have that lead over the ddc. I dont see how it can be better for more restrictive setups because it is a weaker pump and it even uses less power so in theory the d5 should be better (i believe in practice it is, hence they cost more).
Eitherway they are both excellent pumps so to save your cost i wouldnt change pumps, instead i would replace one of the blocks or rads depending if they need it or not, your rad might be very restrictive so changing to a less restrictive one will help more than changing pumps.
The idea is something like the DDC has a higher head pressure and using some form of equation you get a better flow rate. I think martins labs has it covered. From what i read so far its no doubt that the DDC 3.2 has a better flowrate with a custom top just a bit concerned about the sound levels.
I also think the DDC would be an improvement considering the high restriction of the setup.
I've always heard however that the DDC was a heck of a lot quieter than the D5...
I use a DDC 3.2 with an XSPC res top and I can here my low speed rad fans over the noise of the pump. For all intents & purposes it's silent imho.
yep my pair are very quiet, but to try and dull the noise some more i have brought the kooland TMS cards to run the pumps between 7 and 12 volts depending on the demand :)
i hear more air noise than the impeller drone but you do notice it with a quiet rig.
then again since the 480's went in on air its been bloody loud in there !
7 volts ? Some people used to rheobus controller and stated the ddc only worked from 9 volts ? Tbh i think i'll just stick to my d5. Its quiet enough for me saves risking it on a ddc. My aim is to have a ultra silent pc for casual use but not to bothered about sound when i play games.
6-8 depending on model after a thing we call google to check ;)
