All cheap keyboards are not created the same
I got one of these recently as a short-term replacement for my Saitek.

My criteria for purchase were it was low profile, shiny black & cheap. Just wanted it to look good on the big black glass desk I have & not much else.
However, after a few months of use... I love it! The action is minimal, smooth & quiet. The low profile keys work just as well with a light touch or if you're hammering out a long article or essay. Plus there's no gaps to attract all the usual kack that gets entrapped in other designs.:puke:
No frills, whistles, bells, and fancy stuff, just quiet efficiency. :)
imho, a worthy purchase for anyone wanting a no-nonsense good looking & durable keyboard. :rockon2:
Gets the 0iD seal of approval

Re: All cheap keyboards are not created the same
great stuff OiD, was looking for a cheap keyboard
Re: All cheap keyboards are not created the same
Scissor action keys are generally nice for touch typing, however they are all to prone to damage from fiddling and being picked at.
Old style keyboards do have the advantage over laptop style keyboards in that they are far more rugged and can take much higher levels of abuse.
Re: All cheap keyboards are not created the same
Looks similar to the Acer Revo keyboards to me
Re: All cheap keyboards are not created the same
Cheap?!? It's £10! When did that become cheap for a keyboard? Or am I just a nasty scratter? I don't think I've ever paid as much as £10 for a wired keyboard...
Re: All cheap keyboards are not created the same
Since the G15 *shudder*
Mind you, I don't think I've ever bought a full keyboard.

I was just imagining that, a PC build approach to keyboards.
"So yes, I bought Corsair for the A-Z keys but they just don't give you much choice when it comes to the numbers. Razer do some with lovely fonts, and then Antec do a great chassis that glows green..."
It should be done :p
As for my only "keyboard" ever purchased... I can't even type my name on it. They scammed me out of a large proportion of the alphabet.

I have TWO in case one dies.
0iD.. whn you type on that new one.. is it quiet? Cos I have a tendancy to hammer four bales of .... pooh.. out of the keybaord...
think my missus would appreciate me with a quiet one ;)

You need one of these

Although you can come to your own defense saying you're avoiding RSI, something that was almost unheard of in the days of typewriters mainly due to the force required to hit the keys, it's all the rappid, shallow & weak movements of the fingers when you touch type that brings on RSI with far more rappidity.

OiD I take it all back.
why well I've just paid £17.47 (inc p&p) on a Saitek Slim keyboard (from amazon)

Although I got the Black and White one

not my photo's but this is the one I got, I'm typeing this on it now, testing it out ;)
Must stress this is not actually for me, but a build I'm doing, I wanted a keyboard that looked very good, contemporary and would fit in with the black and white colour scheme of the build.
And while it's the most money I've EVER spent on a keyboard it does look amazing and is very nice to type on.
I doubt it would be as nice as a normal keyboard for gaming and the space bar feels a bit loose for my liking (but I also find the space bar on almost every laptop I've used to feel a bit loose to me and even my normal hp keyboard that I use I find a bit loose feeling.)
just poped the space bar to look see, I rekon it will be very easy to rectify, a couple of small squares of paxmate on the underside should dampen it nicely. ;)
Re: All cheap keyboards are not created the same
Write a full review about it :)
The few recent Logitech keyboards I got wasn't really up to the bar and the keys just keep getting stuck :( Need a keyboard that can handle 500+ characters per minute.
Re: All cheap keyboards are not created the same
If you're talking about the basic logitech keyboard (deluxe 250) sticky key issue is very simple to fix, simply pop the sticky key, Shave the edges of the post on the under side of the key with a knife.
Don't ask me what a keyboard is like at 500+ CPM because don't type that fast. :P
Re: All cheap keyboards are not created the same
They both look good, except for the small return key. Prefer the large L shaped return key instead.
Pob225, have you got the width of the Saitek keyboard please?
