I am starting to look into SSDs (just because I can) and what's the difference between the Intel 80GB M25-M gen2 and the X25-M?
I ask as I just compared 2 e-tailer sites (literally just now) and the drives cost the same and the write/read speeds are the same? Is one site wrong or are both drives the same?
P.S. I'm considering the 80gb M25-M gen2 as it's on a ScanShot email
Probably just mislabeled, make sure its the gen2 but you can confirm with the part numbers
Gen2 are faster and support TRIM. TRIM is a necessity for a SSD just incase you didn't know!

Thats a typo by Scan - All drives even the V (value) range begin with an 'X' to the best of my knowledge.

There is no M-25M, SCAN just have it listed wrong
If you get the G2R5 (on the end of the product code) rather than G2C1, then you get a mounting bracket included to mount it in a 3.5 bay
It definitely wants to have G2 in the last letters though as that signifies the second gen

I think Zak posted a similar question in a thread a while back - I did a bit of research and to cut a long story short what TakTak said is spot on.

Since the other questions have been answered the ultimate question is will you outlive your intel SSD?, 1.2millions hours as the MTBF so thats 50000 days, or 137 years, yes im bored lol.
