Can I still use onboard sound as well as my new sound card ?

I have a ASUS DS sound card but all the posts are used with my 5.1 headpone jacks. I would all so like to use my 2.0 speakers as well, so I am wondering if I can use my onbaord sound ports on my motherboard for this, or will it cause some type of conflict ?

    Thanks !!

You can have both drivers installed at the same time and you can switch between them in control panel -> Audio Devices. You can't use both at the same time though.

Actually you can use both devices at the same time with no problem, the only issue i had was with 2 different creative models so the drivers conflicted.

Ive had my onboard + Audigy 2 ZS and now replaced that with a creative fatality Xtreme gamer card, all working flawlessly. Its upto the software you use to enable it though, for me i use voip (skype etc)alot and while gaming i prefer to have the speakers on and listen to the voices on my headset (so i dont annoy people). I set skype to use the headset which is connected to my onboard and the mic that is connected to my x-fi (better quality), then my main speakers via the x-fi are used for music+ css.

So yes, most of the times it works flawlessy and ive yet to have a problem!.

It's actually pretty useful to have them both for Windows 7 because it allows you to play two separate audio outputs without hassle. But I'm not sure how useful that is but it seems that this is what you're looking for.

    +1

Its the best way of playing games with full surround but still being able to help peeps on teamspeak etc along with having voice activation on the mic.
