    Where is GIGABYTE in UK?

    Where is GIGABYTE in UK?

I am looking for a new motherboard in the UK and thinking of changing from ASUS to GIGABYTE
But where are all the 775 Motherboards from GIGABYTE?
Most Stores I look in, have ONLY 1 DDR2 and 2 DDR3 GIGABYTE Motherboards.
Where ASUS there are more than 6 or 7 type for DDR2 775.
Even on US Newegg there aren't many.

    I am looking for GA-EP45-UD3R or GA-EP45-UD3P

I don't know where you can buy it in a shop. Gigabyte are Taiwanese and might not have much of a presence in UK stores. You can find plenty of supply online though. I got mine from scan.co.uk but I bet you can find them at all the major e-shops. Places like ebuyer, novatech, aria, etc. Maybe Amazon too. Mine is pretty good although it's old now so you wouldn't want this one.

They have good support too considering it's a foreign company. I would definitely buy Gigabyte stuff in the future.

Pretty sure it's because they don't produce the socket 775 boards any more, so stores will only be selling old stock.

    It's 4.98*

Also, those are prime ones for use in Hackintosh boxes as they're super compatible. I couldn't find them 6 months ago, so you've got even less chance of finding one now.

Re: Where is GIGABYTE in UK?

    thats really sad and odd
there are only a couple in on-line stores and they are not as high spec'ed as the ones asus have.

Maybe a gap in the market? Time to make money?

Re: Where is GIGABYTE in UK?

If there was genuinely a gap in the market I think gigabyte would still be making the boards and selling them, hence gaining the profit. The fact that they aren't suggests that they feel the demand for these boards has died off completely, and they are happy leaving that segment to other companies. If there are plenty of suitable ASUS boards available, why not just buy one of those? They're a good manufacturer, after all...

Select Gigabyte from the manufacturer filter.

    Quite a few

Let me know how you can RMA those things straight to the manufacturer. One of my friend had that problem (though I think he might've just written it off by now).

Much more likely that Gigabyte have classified the 775 platform as being 'obsolescent, low-end, low-margin, leave it'.

The GA-EP45-UD3R you mention was an awesome high-end board at one point, but nowadays Gigabyte would much prefer to sell you a GA-X58A-UD3R. I think they've always had aspirations towards the higher end of the market, and that means making and selling stuff on the leading rather than the trailing edge.

You need to go through via the place of purchase/retailer.
    http://www.giga-byte.com/support-dow...r-service.aspx

Apparently Gigabyte have a 3 year manufacturers warranty, that is 3 years from the date of manufacture and NOT purchase...
However a quote from the gigabyte forums...
If you are from UK / IRL we will try to help you if your MB has more than 3 years from manufacturing date but less than 3 years from purchase date (proof of purchase will be required).
Gigabyte do have extended warranty offers with their P55 boards between 4-6 years (register online blah blah)

It is possible to go direct, you need to contact them yourself and pay postage etc...
