Dell Outlet - Did I buy a dud?

I just got my Dell Outlet order, finally and I'm worried I've bought a dud.
    I bought it certifed refubished.

    Main problems:
    1. Windows 7 Ultimate is showing as not being genuine (sure a call to Dell could fix)
    2. The colour seems a bit washed out and if I look at the white letter on desktops shortcuts at angle they are discoloured.

Anyone got an opinion on these being teething issues or the sign of it being a lemon?

    The system :
    Studio 1747
Operating System English Genuine Windows 7 Ultimate (64 BIT)
    4096MB (2x2048) 1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
    500GB Serial ATA (7200RPM)
Graphics 1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650
    Intel i7-820QM(1.73GHz) Mobile CPU
    8 X DVD +/- RW
17.3in Full High Definition (1920X1080) LED with TrueLife
    Certified Refurbished

If you look at an angle on any TN screen it will be discoloured - that's normal. And I agree that the Ultimate issue would be very easy to fix with a phonecall.

If the discolouration prevents you from using the laptop, then fair enough - if it's not noticeable under normal usage, then don't worry about it.

If those are the only issues, I'd keep it for now, on the basis that the Genuine Activation was fixed and the screen issue wasn't noticeable. Document them though (photographs and so on) just in case they get worse later. If there are other things though, maybe think about a return. You've effectively got 6 months, so no particular rush.
