Telephone port/socket(?) wiring?
Not sure if this is the right place but seeing as we have lots of tecchies here I thought why not give it a go.
Basically, the internet and telephone of a friend of mine no longer works. I'm not sure why but either way now the wires going into her telephone sockets are no longer attached.
She said there's 1, 2 and 3 on the left side and 4, 5 and 6 on the right side. She has 4 wires - blue, green, brown and red/orange.
Also, how is she meant to put the wires into the sockets? Will simply pushing them in work?
I've tried to google it but haven't found a user friendly/simple guide on how to do it so hopefully someone has the knowledge.
Thanks!
EDIT: Found an image on wiki, but how is she meant to "put" the wires in? Just pushing them right in work as the wires are covered so does the "socket" automatically cut the wire?

EDIT2: Seems the wires will automatically have the wire being cut into when pushed in deep enough.
Thread can be closed now.
Re: Telephone port/socket(?) wiring?
You'd need a punch down/krone tool, just like on 66/110 block :)

Re: Telephone port/socket(?) wiring?
it can be done with a knife too (mind you, not with the sharp edge) :)
after she pushes them in place it's recommended to cut the surplus

Or with a small screwdriver, you don't really need to buy the tool but if you do go for the metal ended one not the plastic as they don't last
Tool available here for 45pence (with metal tip) - don't know how much postage is though

If your friend has a master socket from BT (NTE5) then installing this faceplace will save you having to get individual ADSL filters
