    Budget AMD CPU Cooler Advise

I need a amd cpu cooler (AM2 cpu) at around £15, I will need it to overclock a 2.2GHz Athlon 5000 beyond an overclock of 2.6GHz that I get using stock cooler. (Provided it wont unlock that is)

Heres what I have in mind

OCZ Vendetta 2 CPU Cooler £16.16
    http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...&tid=ocztvend2

    Cooler Master Hyper TX3 £15.64
    http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...rr-910-htx3-gp

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Quiet (Rev 2) £16.16
    http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...8-7276700249-4

Any other recommendations also I dont mind spending a few quid more (nothing more than £20) if there is any significant performance gain

EDIT: is it worth the extra for a

Xigmatek HDT-S1283 £19.94 (and just under free delivery lol)

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?W...source=froogle

    or even
Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus £19.94 (out of stock)

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?W...source=froogle

EDIT 2: It turns out the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 may not be worth it:

consider http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Arcti...p-to-130-Watts! - at £15.85 it's a good price for a great budger cooler.. I personally use it and am very happy overall, keeps my temp down on an Phenom II 720 even with 1.5vcore voltage

I didnt want to start a new thread because of this but my DVD drive has stopped reading discs, strange as it is still recognised in the device manager (athough it is 6yrs old). If I need to buy a new one, which would you recommend, ideally cheap as possible.

Re: Budget AMD CPU Cooler Advise

I have the tx3 on phenom II 720BE ... I would not recommend it for overclocking, also the fan is rather loud, had to attach a 12cm fan via cable ties in the end to quiet it down. So yeah .... don't know about the others but wouldn't recommend that for what you want, if you can fit a heatsink that takes a 12cm fan in your case definately go for that it will be alot better than the tx3, the coolermaster hyper 212 plus is surpass to be a good overclocking heatsink from what i have read on reviews.

As for a disc drive i have this. Seems pretty good for 16 odd quid and has good reviews on overclockers uk.

    Good luck.

It may be a few more £ than some others, but can do dual-layer discs and has Lightscribe - £19.15

100% concur - great cooler at a bargain price. Keeps my 3.96GHz (1.44v) E6850 under 60C at full load.

I have a TRUE black, overkill on my 3.5ghz x3 720BE, with 1.5v. So definitely dont spring for something that powerful.

Re: Budget AMD CPU Cooler Advise

Well I have have narrowed it down to 3:

Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus, its the best of the 3 AFAIK, but costs most

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro (Rev 2), Tried and tested by many,

OCZ Vendetta 2 CPU Cooler, I've read some reviews that says that this beats the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro

Also I dont mind too much about the noise.

These Sony Optiarc drives get very good reviews, are silent and fast ( I have two) and are £15 +delivery

Re: Budget AMD CPU Cooler Advise

With regard to the disk drive. When I bought my LG one recently I looked at all the others and tbh they were all roughly the same price and not much to seperate them based on users reviews, although this samsung one got pretty dire reviews, maybe avoid that. Other than that they are all roughly the same price and seem just as good as one another based on reviews, maybe just pick your favourite brand. Like I said in a post further up, I only burn stuff occasionally with my LG one and it seems fine, nice and quiet and that was about £16.
