I need help!!!

Hi, my computer has been running problem free for about 3 months now (which is a miracle for me) but I've been having random problems when opening mainly internet applications. My system locks up for about 30 seconds and then goes into a blue screen saying fatal exeption, or system busy and then it reboots. After that, during booting up, in red, bold letters it says: " IDE DRIVES INSTALLATION ERROR change stand alone drive to master. system halt...." I kept rebboting but the same message everytime. I turned the computer off and pulled out the plug and put it back in and I'm working for now but this has happened a few times so I think it will happen again. Is my hard drive failing? My system is:
Win 98se
xp2400
512 2100ram
fx5600xt
1 ( i think) fat32 57 gb hardrive
1 cd-r burner.
Please help me to sort out the problam as soon as possible. Thanks!

poss IDE controller me thinks try reinstalling any IDE drivers that came with the mobo
