Not too keen on it myself, it seems a bit geeky and gamer orientated, whereas I think they should aim their adverts to reach the widest audience possible.

That was horrible!
No-Name - The Name That You Can Trust
Oh dear Possibly ranking as high up on the "poo scale" as the Norton Finance adverts there..
I'll agree that it was a bit geeky and gamer orientated, but maybe that's the direction they're aiming for with the release of this chip. It'll coincide with the Nforce3 doodahs (if I'm not hugely mistaken) and with the ever increasing popularity in pc gaming, maybe directing marketing solely on gamers is a good decision on AMDs part. Thats a maybe anyway.
Actually it makes a lot of sense, the high-end gamers are the ones that spend a vast fortune on their systems to have the highest whatever (graphics, sound, etc), and will pay the top dollar (or pound) to have it.
It's been the gamers market that evolved the graphics card business, so maybe AMD is hoping to get the run on intel in the games arena

surely the moral of the story for the "hero" is to get more practice, not to buy a new processor?!?!
Weren't you more worried about the girlie there knowing what framerate was?
Worried, or excited?

LOL, I've certainly seen plenty worse that's for sure. I think they should have made more of the 64bit AND the fact they fully and truly support accellerated 32bit on top (unlike a certain rival). I suppose using gaming allows them to give it a 'sexier' image than saying 'wow, look how fast my spreadhseet loads' ...
Gotta remember, the Athlon 64 is for the mainstream users which are basically *us* gamers. They have the opteron for business class users, so it'd be kinda stupid to have a business orientated advert for a mainstream class processor.
The advert is kinda geeky tho. In modern day gaming, FPS isn't everything anymore. It's the eye candy

P-M 2.0 Ghz
2Gb DDR533 Corsair RAM
100Gb 7200rpm Seagtae HD

Yeah but I think they'd have to concede that the CPU plays very little part in that ... heck it plays little part in FPS anyhow!Originally posted by St3v3

HAHA thats like crap, i woulda done something like
"amd 64, proper bo i tell thee!"
Gamertag - Russonf (xbox and ps3)
"AMD64, check it out, 64 bit, can I get a re-wind, it's proper good"
Opteron may be where it's at for servers and high end workstation machine's in business but I think AMD should get Athlon 64 in as business PCs too. This advert just emphasises the fact that AMD seem like the gamers choice, and not a business one. (Which is a shame)Originally posted by St3v3
