    Which sound card..

    Hello all,

I am looking for a sound card that I can stick in my system that is also supported by windows 7.

My spec is in "My System" to the left, the motherboard is still the same one.

I game, so decent sound quality, for me is a must.

    My budget is £50

Any suggestions please and thanking you [o_o]

    Re: Which sound card..

I just moved from discrete to onboard to scrape a few extra quid together. Can't say I've noticed any change in sound quality (although I'll readily admit that I never used my soundcard for anything vaguely technical), so my recommendation is stick with onboard.

Does this properly work under Win7? My Xonar D2X EAX emulation doesn't seem to.

I believe Microsoft have removed hardware audio acceleration from Windows 7...?

That hasn't worked since Windows Vista. One of the reasons I did not like Windows Vista at first was because my $150 Audigy2 ZS Platinum sound card was reduced to a 2.0 basic sound card. I was quite pissed but I got quite a bit of use out of that sound card. I blame Creative Labs for dropping almost all the support on that card.

I only use it because it still sounds better than onboard. The Via VT1708S chipset on my Asus P5Q Pro Turbo sounds great but lacks the dynamic bass that the Audigy2 ZS has.
