    Gaming Headset(£60 max)

Hi, im looking for a new gaming headset for my pc and was wondering what ones you guys recommend for good sound and mic quality.

so far i came across these two headsets http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2007/...head_to_head/1

I have had a Sennheiser before but it broke. i was however, very happy with the sound quality and mic on it though so would not mind buying another one from that brand. However, that Creative one sounds like its as good as Sennheiser but half the price of it.

I have also looked that those ubber expensive ones with 5.1/7.1 surround sound thats powered by the mains and can connect via optic out on consoles as well as a AV reciver. At the back of my mobo i do have a optic out connection so that could be handy for that but the price of these headphones seems to cost more than a console!

What you guys think? Cheers in advance.

Still totally stand by my Logitech G35's

Can pick them up from scan £87.64 or from Play.com for £84.99. I know you said you are looking to spend £60 max but I would advise putting a bit of extra dosh to pick these up. Just my two cents though.

I have a pair of Speed link Medusa 5.1`s and they have done me proud for 4+ years now. Good sound, good mic. Not sure what they retail for now but i think i paid around the £40 mark.

Currently using a pair of Roccat Kaves, true 5.1 headset and ive gotta say i love em. Little out ya price range at around £75 but they are worth it...

Bad points: They use 5.1 hookups so 4 leads and a USB for power but otherwise their comfy and provide excellent sound.

Which of course is the most important part of a sound system. Just as the most important aspect of a monitor is what it's bass is like.

5.1 surround isn't always a good thing though, just make sure you read plenty of reviews on all the options, cos there's absolutely nothing worse than a crummy or uncomfortable pair of headphones.

I hope the Roccat ones are good for ya . All the Roccat gear I've used recently has been top notch so they should be decent

    So serious.

You never commented on the audio quality, only that it had 5.1.

Yea i actually made this thread across 5 different forums and each mentioned those headphones as well as logitech G33, Maduse, (decent headphones + clip on mic) etc.

The only headphones i have tried are the £200 BOSE from selfridges the other day and they are awsome but no mic so would of had to buy a seperate clip on mic(not a desktop one).

Listen pal, im kind of a audio freak, Sound is obviously the key thing im after from a headset. i have read lots of peoples opinions about it and all have said the sound is exceptional. The only way i can fully judge it is if i buy the thing as no shops let you have a play on it.

Why do you think the last bit i said about these headphones is that it "looks great?" its the Last thing i consider on a headset but its still something worth mentioning.

What headset do you use by the way?

i like, a chunk more comfy than my Razer HP-1's, sound slightly sharper and i only miss the 5.1 a tiny bit.

    Re: Gaming Headset(£60 max)

It was a throwaway dig. Clearly it's hard to get dry humour across on a forum, but like I said you mentioned nothing on the quality, solely concentrating on (what I perceive as) almost pointless aspects instead, it was part humour, part concious rolleyes.

I'm just fed up of people buying cases because they look nice rather than function well, people who pick a PSU because it's white rather than picking it because it can supply steady volts, and more importantly those who buy mice, keyboards and monitor because they look good (and I suppose audio equipment falls into that catagory too). It's probably the whole "oooh shiny!" iPod/Phone/Pad culture which is bugging me.

If something does the job better than any other and looks good, then fair enough, but aesthetics are not a consideration I'd list at all in a buying decision of any PC component.

    Re: Gaming Headset(£60 max)

Man im also fed up of people buying stuff because it looks good. i also hate the the fact that people big up the iphone 4 because it looks nice

Im a guy who buys stuff not ebcause of its looks(well if its clothes wear) but for its intended functionality.

For a phone i want it to be good at voice calling, browsing, text input etc etc, not how sexy the appearence of the phone looks.

For headphones all i care about is the sound quality. not if it looks damm sexy but the roccat does look nice you gotta admit hehe but thats an added bonus
