Almost lost my GTS 250 today :(
I really need to get inside mine with a can of compressed air, been putting it off for so long I can\'t remember when I started. It\'s an atrocity. Got lots of beeping the other day when my E4300 went over 70c. :stupid:
I put the ______ in lazy. :embarrassed:
I found both my Core2Quad machines lose the overclock that I\'ve been using for over one year! And room temperature hitting 31\'C-ish. Now everything apart from my i7 is running stock.
GPU idling (sorta, flash videos make it work a bit) at 52 with 46% fan speed, CPU 100% loaded with folding at 45, but the stock heatsink whines at 4600RPM :surprised:
But temp wise I'm fine \o/
I haven't fired up my Q6600 for about a week, given it was hitting 70C loaded before the current wave of heat. Fortunately my study is pretty cool (north facing, outside walls, big single glazed window :D) and currently hovering around a 22C ambient, so I'd probably be OK with the side off, but there's always that nagging doubt ;)
Water coming soon though - probably just in time for the rainy season  ;)
I got a BSOD the other day, I think caused by an overclock fail or a 5850 overheat. Although everything has been fine since. I have alot of air cooling in the case, but I'd never had any issues until the heat so its the only thing I can think of.
"Now mother... about that aircon I have been saying my computer room needs?"
I had to remove the side of my case to keep my 5870 happy when switching from 3D to 2D and the CPU is idling at 46! Something's not right there - it's not even overclocked.
You need to install nTune and then create a rule.
In my PC, I have everything tuned to make my PC silent.
My Gfx card was crashing with BSOD's when gaming and then stripes appeared. I put a new coat of thermal paste and then turned the zip-tied fan to full speed and all looks OK now.
my fan and pump controllers automatic so i dont have to worry :)
Rivatuner fan control FTW on GPU's!
Had problems with the missus' 4570 in her laptop the other night, lots of artefacting etc. RMA's it to get a replacement GPU and will be making some fan speed rules when it returns.
Watercooling with spare capacity so haven't had to touch a thing, even with room ambient creeping into the low 30's. I don’t consider my overclock stable if it can’t handle higher ambient temperatures!
Not had any issues yet, the change in ambient temp and the effect it can have is why I don't use manually controlled fans on ether my cpu or gpu.
