    Re: Laptop LCD -> VGA

    It is usually very difficult to connect them, so much so the people I know who have tried it eventually gave up.

    Most of them ended up buying the small LCDs that you find for incar use, and simply wired them up via Composite...

    i dont know if these controllers will be compatible with my lcd or not as it has a non-standard resolution

    probably not worth the tiome and effort. 99% of lcd panels use a non standard connector you may as well part out the machine and use the money to but a panel

    By this, do you mean that the LCD itself does not have the normal controller board attached?

    Any chance you could take some photographs of the rear, any connections offered, where they join the PCB, and follow traces to get any Integrated Circuit codes?

    why not get a 2nd hand motherboard to stick in it, it will work out the same as trying to get it working any other way, then you have a functional device to work with, im sure you can get a video reciever to plug into the card slot if it has one ?

    Re: Laptop LCD -> VGA

    I'm guessing it's probably using the simplest VGA connection, however you will need to manually resolder to convert from the offered leads to a proper VGA connection.

    I'm also assuming that you have photographed all the leads running into the monitor, and as such the power is also being supplied via those. I suspect that getting reasonable power delivery could actually be more challenging than rewiring the connection itself.

    You may also want to trace where the leads connect to the motherboard to find what chipset it connects to and how, and then look up the connections that chipset offers to get the line orderings.

    I'm afraid this is a bit of a heavy hacking project, it seems.

    Edit: Panel itself, the product itself looks to have been long discontinued, but looking at similar items on this catalogue, the LQ089B1LS01 is almost certainly 6-bit digital RGB

    after some search i understand that 6-bit rgb is lvds, am i right?
    instead of the controller board im thinking of this, VIA EPIA-PX10000G Pico-ITX Motherboard with VIA C7 1.0GHz NanoBGA2 Processor .. my lcd connector has 20 pins while the mobo has 40.. i read that 20 pins only are used while the other 20 are used in high resolutions, right? if so, can somebody tell me which 20 pins should i use?
