Freeview TV tuner

hello all,

I'm not really familiar with the tv services in the uk, but I would like to have more than the basic tv channels (it might be 4 or 5?).

the freeview channels would be adequate but I want a TV tuner which can receive these channels (in proper quality and with a decent software)

I could not find anything on the official site (only tvs, boxes and recorders) so I would really appreciate your advice on this.

Furthermore I don't really know wich tuners are good, as I have tried one Leadtek tv2000 a few years ago and it was so rubbish I did not bother with it anymore)

Since you're running Windows 7, if you install a standard DVB-T card it should work well with Media Centre and then you don't have to rely on the manufacturer's software. I'm running a Hauppauge Nova-T at the moment which works rather well, but any that are compatible with Win7 Media Centre will do you fine.

The only niggle for me right now is that there don't seem to be any DVB-T2 cards available at the moment. In a nut shell, DVB-T is the standard used for normal Freeview, but the HD channels that are starting to be broadcast on Freeview are on the T2 standard.

I'm using a Compro Videomate E700 which seems OK. I use it with Windows media centre as I did not like the software that came with it.

Before this I used a Nebula but, Since they had some problems with the company there has not been any new software for Windows 7 64bit etc.
