Why would you not use the stock cooler that comes with the 955? I have a Phenom II x3 overclocked using the stockcooler and its been rock solid. But guess too late now!

    Re: New £500 build

So I could have spammed an extra 5 posts and got free delivery? Well never mind.

I googled peoples builds with 955s, and most of them seemed to have aftermarket coolers, so I thought it would be a good idea. There certainly shouldn't be any disadvantage of the cooler, except for the fact I'll be paying a bit extra. I should probably have tried it out with the stock cooler first, but I didn't want to pay the £7 shipping twice .

    Re: New £500 build

No disadvantage from using the titan cooler, except for paying an extra £30 that could have gone towards something else in the system! aka graphics card. Just my opinion though!

    Re: New £500 build

I couldn't have got a better graphics card for £28 extra, what with me getting mine so cheap. I don't think I could have beat a GTX 260 with £112.

just to let you know the fenrir does fit in the antec 300 case with a bit of room to spare! checked it out in my brothers case in case he wanted one in the future! looks like a pretty decent build there as well for the money!

    Re: New £500 build

Came to about £535 for mine. A little bit more for my brother's horrible case .

    Ordered this:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 BlackEdition,
BFG NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 OC 896MB PCIe 2.0
    Titan Fenrir V2 TTC-NK85TZ 120mm PW
    Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3, AMD 870, S AM
    Be Quiet 530W Pure Power PSU - 120mm Fan Dual 12V Rails 5x SATA 2x PCI-E
    Antec 300 Three Hundred Case
    Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz Memory Kit Unbuffered CL9
LiteOn IHAS124-19 24x DVD±RW DL & RAM SATA Optical Drive
    Seagate ST3500418AS 500GB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm

The Seagate drive looked similar to the Samsung one, still a 7200rpm single platter drive. And I don't have to worry about compatibility .

Oh, at some point down the line I'll probably be buying a second drive. Would it be worthwhile putting them in RAID 0, or just leave them alone? How much of a performance boost do you get?

    Re: New £500 build

I think GTX 460s are really small .

EDIT: Pic here. It's going to be shorter than your botherboard is wide . In a SilverStone Precision PS04B. Think its roughly the same size as the Antec 300.

    Re: New £500 build

Done . I think I'll stick some pics up tomorrow.

I think my speedfan is broken though . I have a random 81C reading in there that never changes...

I was expecting the GPU to get hotter than that while folding, my GTS 250 in my other computer gets up to 84...

Will go run prime95 for a bit now and see how the cpu does, then go to bed and see if i can overclock it in the morning .

    Re: New £500 build

The HAF 922 screwed your brothers build up royally! You should of gone for the GTX 460 at the price there selling for as well!
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
