Looks solid enough, although maybe swap the 930 for a 920 and then move from the 5770 to GTX460 with the difference?

Change the PSU to a decent branded one such as Corsair/Enermax/Antec.

First of all, you missed the cost of the OS, unless you already have your own or want Linux etc.

You also may or may not already have speakers, keyboard and mouse, but if not you may wish to reconsider your budget. My general rule of thumb is that keyboard, speakers and mouse should be around 25% of the overall cost, if you want to feel that you made a quality investment.

In some ways you will have a great system, however I would also point out that whilst you will certainly be able to play modern games, there are other systems that you could buy which would give greater framerates (although would lose out a little in other areas).
If we put a cap of £800 on the base unit, so you can still get that monitor, we have:

Scan's very own £700 gaming system as reviewed here at hexus. You still have £100 spare in your budget to up the CPU if you wished.

As above. If you can find a cheaper 920 it shouldn't make any if much difference.

I'd Shop around for ram.

The PSU is probably not great; the one you found on the today only in your last build was a good choice. Its worth finding reviews as the PSUs are made by one company and rebranded and sold under another name; two different models sold under the same brand name might actually be very different in quality.

Cheers for the feedback guys, How does the below sound? I could do with getting everything from scan ideally as its going to a business.

Would a different graphics card be better? Not sure with the different makes etc. Also is the monitor okay? PSU okay? Or is there a cheaper option that would be okay? Should i change the fan so i can overclock the cpu?

What will you be doing with your pc? Do you really need an i7 system? I've got an i7 system myself and I can see that I definitely have it on idle most of the time.

Second of all, although the PSU is from a good make, it still isn't very good. You should definitely spend a lot on the PSU as it usually is the least upgraded thing yet it can die pretty easily over time if it's a bad one.

I'd go for something like the XFX 650W XXX (~£70) or Be Quiet E7 600W White Edition (~£60) if you want modular PSUs or if you don't mind having the cluttered wired PSUs then CoolerMaster GX650W (~£60) or OCZ StealthXStream II 600W (~£54) will do nicely.

Also, from my own experience, i7s run really hot and so you'll either wanna spend ~£50 on cooling it or just not bother with overclocking it much at all.

I, like you, am in the process of building a good spec computer. The one thing that I have gleaned from my research and from all the good advice from HEXUS is don't go for a cheap PSU.

Now your spec is almost identical to my original spec and for that you want about a 600-650w output. This is a bit of an overkill but by not running a PSU at it's maximum capacity you extend it's life and improve it's supply stability.

Also by having this extra power you won't have any problems adding extra HDDs should you want too in the future.

I'm going for the 650w ANTEC True Power New Modular PSU. I couldn't find a bad review for this unit and it has the Bronze Efficiency standard.

and at just over £78 is good value for a PSU of this spec.

I'm sure there are other units out there just as good and I'm sure the good folks of HEXUS will point you in the direction of them.

Edit 2: And now it's on "for one day only" so I'm glad I waited because I've saved another £1.

Oh! and one other thing the mobo you have chosen has 4 pci-e slots if I remember right but unless you have a case with 8 expansion ports you won't be able to use the "lowest one" that's why I went for the Lancool K58 which is very similar in price and looks to the Antec 300. I got mine at £50 from CCL with free postage and it's a fantastic case with proper a tool free construction.

Thank you. Ulti, i probably dont need an i7 in the slightest however i do want this PC to last me a good number of years. Im not up for upgrading in 3 years time.; so i decided to spend alot now and hopefully little in the future.

I do abit of web designing, photoshop etc. And play a couple of games. I was originally going to go for the phenom II but then i thought might aswell go the whole hog and spend abit extra now so i dont have to upgrade again for a while.

If you only play a couple of games you might not even need the GTX 460 GS, which resolutions do you play at? But I guess if you won't be upgrading in 3 years time it may be a good choice to go for that graphics card as it should last a while.

It's a good gaming card.
I still use my AMD Radeon 3870 and, despite what benchmarks might tell you, I still consider it to be a strong card with modern games. The 5770 is stronger than mine, and the 460 is better again.
They will each last you a good few years.

If it was me with that budget I would be looking i750 and P55 board, you would get a good saving for little real world performance loss and you ought to be able to squeeze in a little SSD for the OS and improve your GPU to 5830-5850 with a bit of shopping around
