Hi all
I have an P55M-UD4 with an i5 750. While other boards seem to work, this one does not let me select a 21x multiplier. Surely the CPU supports this and it should work. I have the F10 bios running (flashed from the F3 it came with!). Does anyone have this specific board running with a 21x multi (not turbo...)? If so how did you manage it?
If I had known about this limitation I might have picked a diff mobo though I am fairly happy with my current o/c .

Doesn't the 750 have a locked multiplier?
Edit: Oh I've just remembered reading something about increasing the multipliers on chips with Turbo Boost, sorry about that.

Yes it does. For some reason I thought it had a 21x multi when in fact it looks like a 20x multiplier. Should have waited for the i5 760Not to worry
Whats the highest setting it allows you to choose, both with Turbo on and off.

I think some boards do let you force a 21x multiplier because of Turbo Boost, probably not a common feature though.

The highest setting is 21x, but when I save and restart it always goes to 20x. Ah well. Does anyone have a P55 board with i5 750 that does go to 21x?
Edit: Seems like the MSIs do go to 21x. Here's hoping Gigabyte figure it out in a later BIOS...
I have the GD-65 (MSI) and can set the x22 by default. If you've had the board less than 7 days send it back to your supplier and ask to swap for an MSI one ?

It's been ten days unfortunately. I don't know why Bit-tech recommend these motherboards for the enthusiast overclocker if they can't do multipliers above 20
I'll just have to try more bclk or something. Might work...
Just because you can't have a higher multiplier doesn't mean it can't overclock well - IIRC the UD2 was one of Anands recommended boards when P55 was launched.
Also, first and foremost the reason you don't have a x21 multiplier is because you bought the 750, not the 860.

With a decent overclocking motherboard you'll likely hit the OC wall for the CPU way before needing to up the multiplier anyway.
