    New £700 pc build

    hey all,

    Im building my very first computer. I would say I have a acceptable knowledge of computer parts but still not that much. Here is what I've got so far


    550W Corsair CMPSU-550VXUK, ATX, PS/2, 5 year Warranty £68.78

    The computer will be used for uni work (currently studying computer animation) so rendering and video editing but also gaming in the spare time that i have also I have a copy of windows 7 64bit already.

    any suggestions and recommendations much needed and welcomed

    Looks really good, I don't really see any problems with it at all. What resolution will you be gaming at though? GTX460 should be fine though.

    my screen rez is 1680 by 1050. yeah I wasn't sure if I should get a gtx460 or a 5770 but I've heard good things about the 460 having a really good performance to price ratio.

    1Gb 460? I would consider the none OC version; it should cost about the same.

    If not doing SLI in the future I would say a 500W PSU may save some pennies as the market gets more competitive at this wattage and below. I have the one you listed and its very nice though; 5 years warranty too iirc.

    I quite like the look of some of the new silverstone budget cases; scan today only sometimes has some good bargains.
