AMD Thuban temp monitoring + cooler check
I'm having a bit of trouble measuring the temps of my AMD 1055t CPU, core temps are reported as sub-ambient in software and the other sensors don't really seem to move or are displaying unreasonable temps (one is -200ish and one is 80C). After a bit of Googling I've read that I should offset CoreTemp by 10-15C but even then the temps seem to be below what I'm reading from near the base of the heatsink with an IR thermometer. So, just to be sure I'm safe - I have the 95w TDP chip, not OC'd and I'm using an Ultima-90 cooler which I'm guessing should be more than adequate but I just want to be sure it's plenty cool even under full load.
Thanks
Re: AMD Thuban temp monitoring + cooler check
There should be a TMN1, TMN2 and TMN3 (not entirely sure which is which) read from your MOBO; one is ambient (1?), one is NB (3) and the other should be the temp sensor on the socket (2, its the one that srises quickly under load).
A newer version of the software should start reading the core temps better; you might have to wait for them to update. You may not be able to get core temps until this happens.
Re: AMD Thuban temp monitoring + cooler check
Right after booting the PC I get the following:
TMP1 - 25 so does look like ambient, thermometer on my clock reads 22.1C in the room
TMP2 - 14, possibly inaccurate CPU temp again
TMP3 - between 77 and 80C, I hope it's wrong, what does yours read?
Re: AMD Thuban temp monitoring + cooler check
Using HWmonitor I have
TMP0 as Socket temp
TMP1 as southbridge
TMP2 as northbridge
The 77 to 80 is normal for my board for the northbridge I dont know if its a reporting error or if it is actually that temp. Its if u get temps over that then Gigabyte tell u to start worrying.

Ambient as in inside your case. Didn't know it was SB; mine is usually about 30-40 when stressing everything. The 770 chipset is 65nm and very hot mines 80-81; this sensor is not meant to work so good. My CPU temps are usually 30-50.
Re: AMD Thuban temp monitoring + cooler check
Oh I'm glad that 80C temp is normal, I knocked the heatsink when I unpacked the motherboard and it seemed to lift off the chip so I was a bit concerned about that. The heatsink only reads 40-50ish and since we're all getting the same temps it sounds like it's either very inaccurate or not connected to anything. Also the 770 is only a ~10w TDP chip isn't it?
Re: AMD Thuban temp monitoring + cooler check
Temps sound similiar to mine but I get almost 0 sometimes on the southbridge thanks to my graphics card covering most of the heatsink. Have either of u added extra cooling to the VRMs of the board for unlocking or overclocking?
