Recommend a socket A mATX board

    OK, I have a spare multiplier locked XP2500+ that will do 11x200, spare 512Mb PC3200 & a spare 9700 Pro.

What I would like is a good performing mATX board without integrated gfx (ideally nForce2) that will let me run at 11x200 - so I need fsb & vcore adjustment in the BIOS minimum.
Leadtek K7NCR18DM looked good but can't seem to find 1.
Chaintech 7N1L1 maybe but don't think you can adjust vcore?

Also thinking about using this as a test bed to learn Linux if that has a bearing on choices.

    What do you all recommend?

I was also looking at SoA mATX board recently, and came accross the Biostar M7NCG 400. It's an nForce 2 board with onboard graphics, but you can just turn that off and use the 9700 instead. From what I have read it is quite a good overclocker, has dual channel memory and is quite cheap! More info at

    http://www.biostar.com.tw/products/m...me=M7NCG%20400

and I found it for sale at dabs.com (UK) for £46.

No problems with nForce 2 on linux, except you only get 2-channel sound, not the full 5.1. You're going to have fun with that 9700 under linux though - ATI's linux drivers are, to put it bluntly, crap.
    All effort is useless

That was nice - 2 replies after a month
Problem with the Biostar is that IGP boards usually don't like doing 400fsb or more

See, total Linux noob - didn't realise the 9700 would be a problem :
