    Really bizarre problem with CRT

Ok I just finished watercooling my computer for the first time (i'll maybe take some pics later to show you guys). I relocated my computer back to my desk booted it on and everything seemed to go well until I got to desktop which is now for lack of a better word wobbling. It's basically like my monitor is full of water!

I am guessing it is some how interference from the pump (an eheim aquastream). So I moved it under my desk and put the side panel on. Turned my comp back on and problems stopped. I then wasn't sure if it was putting my case on the floor that fixed the problem or putting the side panel on so I moved it back onto my desk with side panel on and problems stopped for about and hour or so, rebooted to update something and now my screen is back to wobbling ..... arhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I really like having my comp on my desk because I plug stuff into the front I/O ports a lot and i like having easy access. Any ideas how I can isolate the pump (I assume it is the pump)!?

Any reason you are still using a CRT?

No seriously, this could be your opportunity to upgrade! Or maybe side-grade...

Re: Really bizarre problem with CRT

I gave up and put it on the floor in the end lol, still pretty irritating though!

As for why I am using a CRT still ... they have many advantages over an LCD. I am very much a function over form guy so for me personally they advantages massively outweigh the disadvantages.

Re: Really bizarre problem with CRT

I'm glad you sort of sorted this out c.ruel

As for LCD vs CRT I do tend to agree with you, though i'm not sure those with high end IPS panels or 120hz displays would concur. I used to have a Sony CPD G500 21" and it was really a thing of beauty. Perhaps you can find one cheap second hand?

Failing that there's always OLED which can't be more then a year or two away for monitors (of a reasonable price) !

Re: Really bizarre problem with CRT

Yeah I think flat panel technology has improved massively since my first flat panel (from reviews I have read). My plan really is just see how long this great big old CRT lasts me and then I am going to have to spend a lot of money to get something that can match this thing for refresh rates. Hopefully BTW the time this think does give up the ghost the 120hz flat panels will have fallen in price significantly and start to match the IPS panels for colour clarity and viewing angles.

Going back to the original topic, if anyone encounters this problem with a CRT you have to move it away from whatever the source of the interference is ... working out what the source is could be the hard part lol.
