graphics card for £150, High def monitor?

So,

Let's say i wanted to spend around £150 to get a new graphics card, i currently have an 8800GT and was looking for something with a bit more kick. What are peoples thoughts?

Also, what is the purpose of a graphics card having an HDMI output (stupid question probs) if i were to have a HD monitor, and a graphics card with HDMI output, would i connect my monitor using that output? and would there be an improvement, with gaming etc?

Also what would be a suitable monitor for around £200 which would support HD?

HDMI can carry sound if setup properly, I doubt it makes any difference with games display over HDMI. check that it supports the resolution you need I'm not sure its all.

A monitor for film watching and games is very subjective as they are two different things but if you are not fussy its wide open the choice is many what you like is only you can say and its not easy to make a suggestion as new models are available all the time and most are good at one or even both.

For £150 you could get a GTX 460 - the current 8800GT if you will.

1GB is best really.

A respected hardware man from the USA, Ryan Shrout ( I'm not sure if I can mention his web page) said to go with the 1 Gig as the best bet in the long run, but check it out for your use.

1GB is better has it also has more 'under-the-hood' changes as well rather than just an extra 256MB memory.

The GTX 460 certainly seems to be the card to have at the moment. If you'd rather go for ATI, get the 5770 and save yourself some cash.

gtx 460 definatly seems like your best choice but dont ever use hdmi ive had a lot of problems with resolutions using it then switched to dvi and its alot simpler and the colours look better without having to fiddle with settings.
