Will this Micro ATX board and PH II 1090T work>
Heyoo,
I posted on here a while back regarding a render farm build and you guys really helped me out, so I thought I'd come back to school for a bit.
I looking at a Micro Atx mobo with the Phenom II X6 1090T. Will these work together? I'd like to get a couple of these going in some 1u or 2u blades for a little render farm.
Here is the mobo:

And CPU:

According to the product page, the M4A78LT-M LE only supports 95W cpus so the X6 1090T (125W) won't work. However, there will be 95W versions of the X6 available at some point in the future.

The 95W version of the Phenom II X6 1055T is already available:

Thanks again guys!
Much appreciated!

Unless it's a fairly new board it might need a BIOS update to get it working with a Thuban CPU, I had a bit of trouble with that myself - the system would just enter and endless reboot cycle and/or crash with the stock BIOS. According to the product page that motherboard supports that CPU at BIOS version 0602 so you may wish to check with the supplier what version it ships with and if they can flash it for you if it's an older version. I think some boards will be capable of flashing the BIOS even with an unsupported CPU but mine didn't so it's probably worth checking. :)

According to the Asus site, it supports:
Phenom IIX6 1035T(HDT35TWFK6DGR),2.6GHz,95W,rev.E0,SocketAM3,6-Core
and
Phenom IIX6 1055T(HDT55TWFK6DGR),2.8GHz,95W,rev.E0,SocketAM3,6-Core

Check the CPU support list and you'll see it supports them only after BIOS version 0602 which it may or may not ship with, hence my post.
Edit: I may have misinterpreted your post, I'm assuming you mean it only supports the 95W CPUs. :)

Good lookin out!
Now I think I might do this combo:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.456546
But I'm also looking into dual cpu mobos to see if there are any priced resonably. So far it looks like market for these is still pretty high for these configurations.
This selection process is draggin on and on:stupid: I think I just need to pick something and stick with it, i'm just "on the fence" with the whole....by more (less powerful) render nodes for less, or buy less (more powerful) nodes for more!
Everytime I do a price comparison on a build I always get more cpu cores for a cheaper price going with a build like a PhemonIIx6(480$pernode-6cores) as opposed to a mabey i7 870(~750$pernode-4cores)
But the benchmarks are allways better for the more expensive configuration(go figure:))
Here is where I get stumped> If I get (4) i7 870 nodes for 3,000$(16cores) I could have gotten (6) PhenomIIx6 1055T nodes(36 cores). Then I have to factor power comsuption and software license fee's.
I never was to good with math:rolleyes: but It seems the cheaper node(1055T) is the way to go. I can get an extra 24 cores for 2 grand and call it a day!
Thanks again guys,
M
