    45nm X2 5000+ back in stock!

Ebuyer appear to have got hold of some more stock of the Phenom II based Athlon X2 5000+ (45nm, 2.2GHz, AM2+): http://www.ebuyer.com/product/222272

These used to be locked and downclocked full Phenom IIs with 4 cores and a full 6MB of L2 cache, and a few people had success unlocking and overclocking them. Given that the asking price is less than £32, I figured one or two people on here might fancy taking a chance on one...

As this is listed as OEM will it come with a cooler?

I'd need someone to buy me one *and* someone to buy me a suitable mobo to go with it *sigh*

And being OEM I'm pretty sure this won't come with a cooler, no.

Asrock N68C-S UCC, as I got 2x2 gigs of pc6400 and can't afford ddr3 at the moment but this board should give me upgrade options for the future.

Congrats! Is that all 4 cores then?

Reminds me, it is my turn in the email tennis with Asus over the M3A78-T not having selective core unlocking. Mine is still running 2 core and no L3 cache thanks to one dead core and lack of decent bios unlock support

They asked for a photo of the BIOS screen showing the option not being there. Can't say I am terribly impressed with that, but not too big a hoop to jump through at least.

I noticed the old 65nm dual cores are fading in and out of stock all the time too, so my old AM2 motherboard is now running a cheap X2 5600 before they go the way of S939 X2 chips and surge back up in price

    Re: 45nm X2 5000+ back in stock!

If its of interest to anyone looking for one then it seems ebuyer have them on their ebay store. At least i think these are the same. But I could well be wrong not up on all this unlocking stuff!

    Listed as 7 available

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AMD-Athlon-64-...17edb7ffe5138a

Edit: Whoops I accidently ordered one, even though I have no money at the moment and no motherboard or memory to pair it with. I have a problem - I'm addicted to bargains!

Even though i ordered it through ebay (still out of stock on mainstore) it managed to appear in my normal ebuyer account (same email address perhaps means it links in, either that, or magic). The quickfind link to the item I ordered takes me through to the same link as the OP. So looks like they are the same. I wonder why they show as in stock on ebay and out of stock on the main site. Very perculiar.

I went for the Asus M4A785D-M PRO as it ticked all the boxes for my HTPC build. I can also vouch for it having selective core unlocking.
